Biography

Dr Manuel Perrotta's research focuses on ARTs as culturally embedded socio-technical product entangled in a network of political, economic and moral considerations. She completed her PhD, entitled "Riproduzione assistita e innovazione tecnologica: organizzare tecnologie, saperi e corpi (Assisted reproduction and technological innovation: organizing technologies, knowing and bodies)" (supervisor Prof. Silvia Gherardi) in 2008 at the Department of Sociology and Social Research of the University of Trento, Italy. Between January 2011 and June 2013, she will be a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Culture, Faculty of Humanities, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway, working on the research project, "Inside out. New images and imaginations of the body", which focuses on how new visualization technologies are applied in the production of images on the level of cells and how new knowledge of the interior of the body is produced and reproduced. In June 2013, Dr Perrotta will take up a Lecturer in Management at the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary University of London.
