Study With Us

Prospective graduates who wish to study with members of ReproSoc are welcome to contact us with initial enquiries, informal questions and requests to be supervised. In making a formal application for graduate study at Cambridge, they will be required to direct their applications to the Department of Sociology.

The Department of Sociology runs the MPhil in the Sociology of Reproduction and a vibrant PhD Programme. There is a strong and lively graduate community in the department, with a dedicated study area, online forums, and support available from academic and administrative staff. About 55 PhD students and 25 MPhil students study at any one time and regular programmes of graduate and staff seminars are held both within the Faculty and in related faculties throughout the academic year.

The academic staff of the Department of Sociology are, both collectively and individually, world-class leaders in the field. Students are encouraged to work on projects and follow topics that are at the cutting edge of new research and policy initiatives. Teaching is in small group lectures and seminars.

Graduate students who join ReproSoc for their MPhil or PhD will be able to specialise on reproductive studies, supervised by Professor Sarah Franklin or other specialists in their area. They will be welcome to partake fully in the activities of the Department of Sociology, and are also encouraged to join the Cambridge Interdisciplinary Reproduction Forum.
