Biography
Noémie Merleau-Ponty is a permanent researcher at the National Centre for Scientific Research in France and a consultant for the Reproductive Sociology Research Group at the university of Cambridge. She works on three reproductive and regenerative biotechnologies: in vitro fertilisation, in vitro gametogenesis and stem cells therapies.
In France, India and the United Kingdom she does ethnography in research facilities and hospitals. He work documents and questions the epistemologies at play in the use and making of biotechnologies. Noémie Merleau-Ponty's studies are occasions to work with instead of on. They elaborate an interdisciplinary and inclusive method.
Doctor of anthropology since 2015, Noémie Merleau-Ponty was also trained in history of art and philosophy in France. In the USA and in the UK, she previously worked with teams specialised in gender studies, anthropology of biology as well as feminist science and technology studies.
